HRT plans are tailored to fit individual patient needs. The clinic offers bioidentical estradiol and testosterone pellet insertion and/or prescriptions for oral and topical hormones.

Are there any side effects and/or complications?
Unlike other forms of hormone therapy, there are virtually no side effects.
Do I need other medications?
Unless the uterus has been removed, women will also need progesterone, to protect the uterine lining.
How do I begin the Hormone Replacement Process?
Begin by giving us a call at (940) 687-0272 or come by our office at 2601 Harrison, Wichita Falls, TX 76308. Our patient coordinator will talk to you to make sure you get the lab slip you need. All hormone patients need to have labs done before coming in to see Dr. Purcell.
(Some people have their insurance cover the cost of their labs, however, if you do not have insurance, or do not wish to get your labs done through your insurance, we do have a contract with a couple of labs here in Wichita Falls, TX that will allow us to get your labs done at about 1/10th the usual price. All labs does through our contract need to be paid for in advance to our office.)
Once your labs are sent to our office, Dr.Purcell will review the labs and we will call you to set up an appointment.
How often will I need HRT?
It depends on the person, but anywhere from every 4-6 months.
If I am a woman, do I still need estrogen?
Bio-identical absorbable estrogen is the most important hormone for protecting a woman against heart attack and stroke, as well as osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s. Synthetic estrogen taken orally does not offer the universal benefits.
What are bio-identical hormones?
They are derived from a natural plant source of soy and hand compounded to be biologically identical to human forms of estradiol and testosterone. The body is given what it can no longer produce.
Why doesn’t my doctor suggest HRT- Pellet Therapy as an option?
The great majority of physician training is on synthetic hormones. More than likely they were never trained on the use of bio-identical hormone therapy.
Will I grow unwanted hair from the testosterone?
There is less chance of hair growth with bio-identical hormones.
